Saint Vasilije Ostroski Church
New Belgrade, Partizanske avijacije 21a,
This is the youngest Orthodox temple in Belgrade, at the same time the first church to be built on the territory of New Belgrade after World War II. Construction started in 1996, and the church was consecrated in 2001. Inspired by Christian tradition and by excellent works by old Serbian builders, architect Mihajlo Mitrovic committed himself to the shape of the ancient Christian rotunda, with a lower annex, a tall bell-tower at the west, and trefoil altar apse at the east. St. Vasilije Ostroski Temple is a solid pictorial entirety, created in a modern construction manner. It was built through donations of the admirers of the Saint.
